Clinical Excellence in Action: Celebrating National Nurses Week 2026

As we celebrate National Nurses Week, we want to move past the clichés and recognize the reality of the profession: it is a high-stakes, technically demanding, and essential service that keeps our communities safe.

The Impact of the Modern Nurse

The nursing profession continues to grow and evolve to meet the complex needs of our healthcare system. Recent projections from the Bureau of Labor Statistics anticipate a 15% increase in the employment of registered nurses through 2026, totaling nearly 438,100 new roles to meet rising demand.

However, this growth comes at a time when the profession faces significant challenges. Recent data indicates that approximately 56% of nurses report symptoms of burnout, and nearly 42% have expressed an intention to leave their current roles. These statistics reflect the burden of a workload that demands immense mental and physical resilience.

To Our Emergency Nurses: The Frontline of the Frontline

Emergency nursing is a specialty that demands a unique temperament. Whether you are managing a busy waiting room, coordinating a pediatric emergency, or providing critical stabilization, you operate in an environment where seconds matter.

Emergency healthcare providers face some of the highest pressures in the industry, with studies showing personal burnout rates as high as 83.7%. Despite this, you continue to show up. Your expertise in triage, your ability to maintain calm during chaos, and your commitment to clinical excellence are why our emergency departments succeed.

My nursing leadership is unshakable, incredibly kind and compassionate, always supporting their team, and nurses I have the honor to work with have some of the biggest and best hearts I’ve ever seen in emergency medicine, matched only by their intelligence and worth ethic.

A Simple Thank You

To the nurses across all our partner locations: thank you for your clinical precision and your steadfast advocacy for your patients. You are the reason we can provide high-quality emergency care every single day.

Happy National Nurses Week.
