Founded in 2013, Progressive Emergency Physicians (PEP) supports five emergency departments across New York and Vermont. Led by the group’s President, Dr. Andrew Sama, PEP joined Emergency Care Partners (ECP) in 2019.
PEP believes that the greatest challenge facing hospital executives is physician engagement. Misaligned incentives can lead to poor clinical and fiscal performance. Progressive Emergency Physicians understands this dynamic. The group’s ownership model drives a culture of engagement, with physicians leading with an acute understanding of both emergency medicine and business strategy. Focused data analysis is used to deploy a strategy tailored to the hospitals they serve.
PEP delivers robust, evidence-based, data-driven solutions, implemented by clinicians whose goals and incentives align with hospitals’ needs. PEP’s culture of accountability will continue to meet and exceed target goals, driving meaningful change to serve its partner hospitals and patients better.
