About Ascension Emergency Physicians (AEP)
Founded in 2013, Ascension Emergency Physicians (AEP) manages the emergency department at Our Lady of the Lake – Ascension in Gonzales, Louisiana. Led by the group’s President Dr. Chris Trevino, AEP joined Emergency Care Partners (ECP) in April of 2019.
Ascension Emergency Physicians use data-driven management, true physician leadership and real expertise in emergency department services — exploring the complete extent of the efficiency process. AEP’s process improvement strategies are based on proven lean methodologies and transparent, collaborative relationships with hospitals and physicians. AEP is uniquely equipped through the services they provide to enhance patient satisfaction by making visits better, faster and more efficient.
AEP’s goal is to remain small and focused, allowing the team to provide tailored services to EDs and work hand-in-hand with staff to drive metrics.
Our Facilities & Locations
Our Lady of the Lake Ascension is a 78-bed, faith-based, not-for-profit community hospital located in Gonzales, Louisiana. It serves Ascension Parish and parts of the surrounding parishes of Iberville, St. James, and Livingston. The hospital provides inpatient, outpatient, and surgical services with the support of over 300 affiliated physicians and over 500 team members. With an 18-bed emergency department, fast track, and specialty treatment areas for critical care and mental health, Our Lady of the Lake Ascension cares for approximately 38,000 emergency department patients annually.
One of the fastest-growing parishes (counties) in the United States over the past several years, Ascension Parish offers a quality lifestyle. Because of its proximity to Baton Rouge and New Orleans, amenities of the city such as universities, shopping malls, and cultural activities from world-class museums to symphonies and ballets, are readily available.
Ascension Parish offers access to resplendent wildlife and scenery in the surrounding cypress swamplands. Home to a number of festivals including the Jambalaya Festival, the Boucherie Festival, and the Louisiana Balloon Festival, Ascension and surrounding areas host three museums, Houmas House Plantation, and Lamar-Dixon Expo Center, as well as premier shopping including Tanger Outlet Center and Cabela’s Outfitters.
The area is serviced by the Louisiana Regional Airport (Gonzales, for personal/private aircraft), Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport, and Louis Armstrong International Airport (New Orleans). Recreation includes Parish-sponsored youth leagues such as baseball/softball, soccer, and basketball, golf courses including the world-class Pelican Point, swimming, soccer, boating, hunting, and skiing on the Amite River.
In addition to Louisiana State and Southern Universities in Baton Rouge, and the University of New Orleans, Southern University at New Orleans, Loyola, Tulane, and Xavier Universities in New Orleans, Ascension is home to the River Parishes Community College & Ascension Technical College.
